Egyptian Secrets Decoded
Horus or Heru, Hor, Har in Ancient Egyptian, is one of the most significant ancient Egyptian deities who served many functions, most notably as the god of kingship and the sky. He was worshiped from at least the late prehistoric Egypt until the Ptolemaic Kingdom and Roman Egypt.
The lineage of Horus, the eventual product of unions between the children of Atom, may have been a means to explain and justify Pharaonic power. The gods produced by Atom were all representatives of cosmic and terrestrial forces in Egyptian life.
By identifying Horus as the offspring of these forces, then identifying him with Atom himself, and finally identifying the Pharaoh with Horus, the Pharaoh theologically had dominion over all the world. The Valley of the Kings was located in the ancient necropolis of Thebes, the capital of Egypt during the New Kingdom. Two branches separate the valley into the Western Valley and the Valley of the Monkeys. Theban Peak, shaped like a pyramid, can be seen high above the burial grounds.
The Sphinx is a monolith carved from the bedrock of the plateau, which also served as the quarry for the pyramids and other monuments in the area. The archaeological evidence suggests that it was created by ancient Egyptians of the Old Kingdom during the reign of Khafre (c. 2558–2532 BC).
During the major revival of the Renaissance, Later, the sphinx image, initially very similar to the original Ancient Egyptian concept, was exported into many other cultures, although they are often interpreted quite differently due to translations of descriptions of the originals, and through the evolution of the concept in relation to other cultural traditions.
The Sphinx depictions are generally associated with architectural structures such as Royal tombs or religious temples.
